The maximum detection distance depends on several factors - the camera characteristics to begin with. The camera resolution, in particular, plays a big role. However, the incorporated zooming-tracking algorithm used by Scylla allows checking the object in the original full-resolution the camera provides. Thus, unlike similar AI-based solutions, Scylla is not heavily dependent on the quality of the visuals that are usually downgraded when processed through neural network layers. Then there is a group of characteristics that can be related to camera “picture quality”, such as stream bandwidth, encoding, etc. There are conditions of visibility to consider as well, such as the illumination and object position. For example, the reliable minimum size limit for a person detection is around ~40-50 pixels which results in a maximum distance of up to 70-100 meters for most 4K cameras.
